Catching the Wind: A Digital Thread From Design to Service
Vestas is the largest manufacturer of wind turbines in the world. It has nearly 30,000 employees and has installed 88,000 wind turbines. Wind turbines are complex machines, with upwards of 40,000 parts. In response to demand, they are becoming increasingly configurable, with a variety of options, and are manufactured in plants worldwide. The challenges of manufacturing complex and highly configurable devices in a wide range of plants and locations means that Vestas can benefit enormously from greater transparency in its design, manufacturing, shipping, and maintenance process.

    What we the steps you had to follow to link the Windchill system with the Codebeamer system? Have you made a video about this process of linking the ALM system with the PLM system so that you can complete these configurations after they have been linked?

    Nice information. Is there a scope for running the automation test using Junit for a code associated with a test case and requirement?

      Yes, Codebeamer supports integration with most of the leading test automation and DevOps tools.

  • @sagar1691

    So its one way traceability from ALM -> PLM, will it be possible to have bidirectional traceability as well? Like if i make some changes to WTPart (example moving from LS from INWORK to UNDERREVIEW) does the Codebeamer traces it the other way around?

    • @PDSVISION-Take-Control
      @PDSVISION-Take-Control 3 месяца назад

      The trace is unidirectional since it’s top down. Requirement drives the part identification and creation. Part satisfies the requirement. If the requirement changes, then the part must change since the purpose is changed. But, if the part changes, then the requirement need not change. Design is iterative and the part will continuously evolve and hence no need for backward trace. If you need any further details, please reach out via our website on pdsvision.com/contact/

    Speaking as a former professional teacher of technical software, you suck. You NEVER pause and give any critical instructions, such as "Right Click" or "Click on the this icon". You failed to even mention the first steps of File -> New -> Assembly. You click around at 100mph with zero regard for students who are trying to emulate your steps, while babbling on. I will not be watching any of your other videos.

    • @PDSVISION-Take-Control
      @PDSVISION-Take-Control 7 лет назад

      Mike, there is a relation between the distance between the points and the length of the profile of the coil. The points drive the overall length and the profile drives the length of the spring coils. i.e. <profile length> = <point distance> - ##. There is also a relation between the number of coils and the profile length to maintain the number of coils and change the pitch. <pitch> = <profile length> / <number of coils>.

      Hi Mike, I have actually made an extension spring but it isn't flexible. Could you please share your method of making a flexible extension spring?

    • @MikeIssa
      @MikeIssa 7 лет назад

      Lijo Varughese Chacko Start by drawing a horizontal line (name it S1). New sketch. Reference the line you just drew and then, draw a semi circle about .5 inches away from an endpoint of S1 (this curve represents the hook). Create a centerline perpendicular to S1 in the midpoint, and then mirror the hook across this center point. You should now have two sketches. A line sketch, and two semicircles on opposite ends of the line. New sketch. Title it (C1) Reference all sketches you've drawn so far. Draw a line from the top endpoint of a semicircle to the top endpoint of the other semi circle. Create helical sweep on this line you just drew with S1 used as the center line. You should now have a helical extension spring. Go to tools, relations. Relate the semicircle hook diameters to the length of S1. Relate the semicircle distances from the line to the length of S1. Relate pitch of C1 to length of S1/n (n is number of coils) Now whenever you change the length of S1, the relations will drive the hook dimensions and the number of coils to keep everything proportional. You can now also use this spring in assembly. I can send the prt file if necessary EDIT: I forgot to mention to draw intersecting curve lines to connect the spring to the hooks. You must also reference these entities in the relations tool

    I just upgraded to Creo 2.0 from Creo 1.0...very informative video! I noticed that the bolts have a "SQUARE" next to them on the model tree. Does that mean it's "packaged"? I'm having the same when assembling hardware on my assy. I noticed that my assembly has a triangular yellow icon on my task bar. So when I save, a "conflict dialog box" shows up & says "Model is not regenerated". Is it due to the "packaged" hardware? Thanks again!
